Single Gender Teaching Strategies-TWO Academies @ Dent Middle School
Saturday, April 21, 2007:
Woodbridge Middle School in Woodbridge, Virginia was my first teaching position. At the start of my second year, the school was implementing a “Single-Gender Program,” and I was fortunate enough to attend training at Dent Middle School II, a successful single-gender school in South Carolina.
My administration sent representatives from core classes so that we could observe our specific content area. Prior to the start of the 2007-2008 school year, the same-gender representatives presented a training session for the faculty at Woodbridge Middle School. I was teaching 8th grade Language Arts at that time, so I observed both male and female Language Arts classes at Dent Middle School.
Below is the information that I presented to my fellow faculty members.
